My favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe

There are so many chocolate chip cookie recipes out there, and they are hit and miss depending on what you like… cakey, crisp, or chewy. I always go for chewy every time. This is my favorite chewy recipe. It is based on the Alton Brown chewy recipe, but varies a touch for my tastes. My favorite part is that you don’t have to remember to soften the butter, the recipe calls for the butter to be melted. Props to Jenny from Picky Palate for giving me the idea of putting chopped up Milky Way bars in the cookies! They add even more chew-factor to any already chewy cookie! If you have not checked out her site yet, you should. She has so many awesome, easy recipes.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 sticks unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups bread flour
3/4 cups unbleached flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk or cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks
16 mini milky ways, cut in half

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Melt the butter in the microwave on high for 1- 2 minutes. Pour the melted butter in the mixer bowl. Add the sugar and brown sugar. Cream the butter and sugars on medium speed. Add the eggs, 2 tablespoons milk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Add the flour, salt and baking soda to the bowl and mix until combined. Stir in the chocolate chunks and milky ways and mix just until combined. If you have time chill the dough for 20 minutes, if not you can start baking, but they will be a little thinner. Scoop the dough 12 cookies per sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and eat!
